Senior Crane Technician

The Senior Crane Technician is a skilled heavy equipment mechanic responsible for the modernization and repair of cranes. This role involves routine maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades, as well as solving complex problems when the crane malfunctions. The successful candidate will possess self-sufficiency, leadership abilities, effective communication, and professionalism to lead field technicians and serve as a liaison between HCSG management and customers.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades on cranes
- Solve complex problems when cranes malfunction
- Train and mentor field technicians
- Perform OSHA required hoist and crane inspections and generate inspection reports and repair orders
- Communicate with the Service Manager and Branch Manager to schedule and complete work
- Consult with customers on repair and safety-related issues and discuss recommendations to improve their services
- Maintain company-issued equipment, vehicles, and assets in a safe and proper working order
- Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles in a safe and responsible manner
- Maintain a supply of HCSG forms and miscellaneous materials in the company vehicle
- Work effectively in a team environment
- Attend company-provided trainings and seminars as required
- Participate in HCSG's 5 Marks program
- Perform other duties as assigned
The work is labor-intensive and requires the ability to lift up to 50lbs on a daily basis and up to 100lbs on a rare basis. The position involves frequent climbing, balancing, stooping/crouching, overhead reaching, bending, squatting, and prolonged standing and sitting. It also requires occasional pushing, pulling, kneeling, and crawling. The position involves great hand and eye coordination and requires working at heights exceeding 50 feet.
Work EnvironmentThe work is normally performed inside or outside, depending on customer requirements, with varying degrees of extreme hot and cold temperatures. The position will be frequently exposed to noise, heights, fumes, dust, and odors.
Minimum Qualifications- At least 5-7 years of crane repair and maintenance experience
- At least 3-4 years of electrical and/or mechanical experience in lieu of crane repair and maintenance experience
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Commitment to working and driving safely
- Ability to work off the ground at various heights
- Basic computer skills to work with web-based crane inspection programs
- Ability to communicate well with others and work independently or as a team
- Knowledge of hand tools and/or possession of hand tools
- Vocational/Technical training certificate
