Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Analysis Engineer 2 to join our team at BWX Technologies. As a key member of our Nuclear Fuel Services division, you will be responsible for providing safety analysis support for the preparation, review, and recommendation of safety analysis documents associated with design, construction, startup, and operation of enriched uranium processing and support operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in team evaluations and support the preparation of safety basis documentation for new and/or modified plant processes, systems, and components.
- Interface with regulatory agencies regarding 10 CFR 70, Subpart H, issues, including integrated safety analysis (ISA), safety basis documentation, and management measures.
- Perform accident consequence analyses, including identification of source terms and safety hazards.
- Develop and/or use computer models and other calculation methods to perform accident consequence analyses and dose/exposure consequence determinations.
- Perform risk analysis using established NFS methods and identify the items relied on for safety (IROFS) needed to prevent or mitigate potential accident scenarios.
- Develop/revise safety analysis reports and safety basis documentation for new and modified processes, systems, and components.
- Review work requests, procedures, and drawings detailing proposed process changes and determine their impact on the safety basis.
- Conduct field design verification, hazard analysis walkdowns, and periodic inspections/audits/assessments.
- Perform technical/independent reviewer responsibilities in accordance with applicable program documents and procedures.
- Support the preparation and/or revision of ISA summary documents.
- Perform or participate in failure investigations for failed/degraded IROFS and management measures.
- Respond to regulatory requests and participate in regulatory discussions in defense of safety basis documentation.
Requirements:
- B.S. Degree in Science, Engineering, or a technical discipline. M.S. preferred.
- Six to eight years' experience in safety analysis is required to demonstrate the ability to apply technical knowledge to plant situations, requirements, and analyses.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this position is expected to be between $[[cust_salaryMin]] and $[[cust_salaryMax]] per year. The total compensation package may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive and a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
