The Outpatient Psychiatrist will conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment for individuals facing mental health challenges. This role involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to create comprehensive treatment strategies that comply with agency, local, state, and federal guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver on-site psychiatric services in an outpatient environment, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients referred by medical and clinical services. May be required to cover inpatient shifts as needed.
  • Supervise and perform Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) procedures.
  • Prescribe suitable psychotropic medications to alleviate mental health symptoms, ensuring efficient monitoring and coordination of medication use.
  • Develop Multidisciplinary Treatment Plans for all relevant patients in accordance with company and facility standards.
  • Maintain accurate medical records documenting patient history, diagnoses, treatment plans, and other necessary documentation as required by the organization.
  • When necessary, evaluate patients for potential transfer to external psychiatric facilities or community mental health services, assisting staff in accessing higher-level care.
  • Support the strategic objectives of the organization, oversee clinical decision-making, and ensure the quality of medical outcomes.
  • Manage Court Order Evaluations and clients under Court Orders in the outpatient context.
  • Collaborate with Primary Care and Inpatient Psychiatry to ensure integrated Whole Person Care.
  • Engage with the Polara Health Medical Staff and participate in Medical Group functions.
Additional Duties
  • Communicate effectively with referring providers and family members of clients.
  • Comfortable working with diverse age groups.
  • Conduct psychiatric assessments.
  • Provide medication management services.
Qualifications

Must hold an MD degree in psychiatry and possess the ability to establish rapport and a strong therapeutic relationship with clients. Experience in providing evaluations and evidence-based psychotherapy across a wide range of clinical scenarios is essential. A valid DEA license is required.

Eligibility for membership in the Polara Health Medical Staff is necessary.

Experience Requirements

A minimum of five years of clinical experience in Psychiatry is preferred, along with at least three years of supervisory experience in a healthcare environment. Extensive knowledge of utilization tools and systems for assessing appropriateness and levels of care is required. Experience with risk-sharing contracts and the ability to influence provider behavior through reporting and consultation is also necessary.
