Millwright Apprentice

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Millwright Apprentice to join our team at West Fraser, Inc. As a Millwright Apprentice, you will play a key role in maintaining and repairing industrial equipment, ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities.

• Repair and maintain industrial equipment, including conveying systems, machine centers, and other machinery
• Read and understand technical drawings and instructions
• Work safely under pressure and take initiative to resolve issues
• Understand basic mechanical principles and be able to troubleshoot equipment
• Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, and other equipment
• Adjust tension on nuts and bolts and position parts using hand tools and measuring instruments
• Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, and other tools
• Assemble and install equipment using hand tools and power tools
• Lay out mounting holes and drill holes with a power drill
• Replace defective parts and adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts
• Level bedplates and establish centerlines using straightedges, levels, and transits
• Dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, and other hand tools

• 3 years of experience in industrial/maintenance environment
• Cutting torch experience (Oxygen/Acetylene)
• Welding experience (GMAW and SMAW)
• Safety-oriented and compliant with all ZES rules
• Willing to work rotating shifts, overtime, and be on-call for 24/7 operations
• High School Diploma or GED
• Pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check
• Complete the West Fraser Qualified Millwright training program
• Pass a Millwright Assessment Test
