Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technician to join our team at Mayo Clinic - 1216 Second Street S.W. in Perioperative Services. As a Surgical Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Certification and Training: Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) competency and obtain additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
  • Perioperative Support: Assist the surgeon and surgical team peri-operatively to provide an optimum peri-operative experience.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Possess knowledge of anatomy, instrumentation, patient safety, and sterile technique.
  • Education and Certification: Graduate of an accredited and/or hospital-approved Surgical Technician program; certification preferred.
Requirements
  • Competency: Demonstrate competency in Otorhinolaryngology, General/Gynecology, Neurology, Orthopedics, and Cardiovascular procedures.
  • Job Knowledge: Understand principles of aseptic technique, orientation of surgical procedures, preparation, operation, and care of equipment and machines, and patient and staff safety recommendations.
Additional Requirements
  • Communication and Teamwork: Communicate and work effectively with various levels of personnel.
  • Physical Demands: Stand and walk for major portions of the work schedule; moderate to heavy lifting required.
  • Exposure to Hazards: Exposure to cuts, burns, infection, biohazardous chemicals, and x-ray.
