Job Responsibilities:

Position Overview: The individual will be accountable for the upkeep and repair of facilities at Wisconsin Community Services program sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all facilities comply with agency standards, contractual obligations, and regulatory guidelines regarding maintenance, repairs, sanitation, and environmental safety.
  • Assess building and equipment repair requirements and communicate with the program Supervisor. Prioritize and execute repairs as instructed.

  • Maintain an organized inventory of all maintenance tools and supplies.

Job Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Proficient understanding of building maintenance and repair processes. Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills are essential. Knowledge of general painting, plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, commercial door hardware, and building repairs is required. Ability to comprehend and execute both verbal and written instructions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience or training in various aspects of building maintenance.
  • A valid driver's license, auto insurance, and a vehicle are necessary.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and pre-employment health screening.

Work Environment:

The role is situated within a social service agency, involving interaction with residents. The position primarily operates independently and reports to the facility Director.

Personal Attributes:

Adhere to the agency's Code of Conduct and established policies and procedures. Maintain ethical conduct and professional relationships with program staff, clients, and external stakeholders. Show sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and disability issues while demonstrating commitment to the agency's values and mission.

Working Conditions:

Work occurs both indoors and outdoors throughout the year, with local travel as necessary to fulfill essential duties. Specific work locations and schedules may vary. The environment is busy, with regular interaction with clients, colleagues, outside professionals, vendors, and visitors.

Physical Requirements:

Must be capable of lifting over 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and navigating multiple flights of stairs. Responsibilities include transporting supplies, operating floor cleaning equipment, moving furniture, and standing for extended periods. Operation of machinery and tools is required, and the individual must be prepared to work in adverse weather conditions.
