A qualified professional responsible for delivering rehabilitation therapy services to clients across various age groups under the guidance of a licensed rehabilitation therapist.
Qualifications Required:
Education: Completion of an accredited program for rehabilitation therapy assistants, holding an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy.
Licensure: Possession of an active state license as a rehabilitation therapy assistant, or compliance with the applicable requirements as specified in relevant regulations. Military spouses may practice without a specific license if they hold a valid license in good standing from another U.S. jurisdiction with equivalent licensing standards. A valid driver's license is also required.
Experience: Preferred minimum of one year working as a rehabilitation therapy assistant.
Skills: Proficient therapy skills in accordance with the Therapy Practice Act and other governing bodies. Strong interpersonal communication abilities. Current CPR certification is mandatory.
Work Environment:
- Services are provided in clients' residences under varying conditions; potential exposure to bodily fluids and infectious diseases; flexibility in scheduling is essential; local travel may be required; occasional exposure to adverse weather conditions.
- Capability to perform heavy lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, and prolonged standing.
- Extended periods of standing and walking are necessary.
- Ability to work under stress to meet deadlines and address patient needs, including individualized psychosocial requirements.
- Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver services as prescribed by the physician, following the care plan developed and supervised by the licensed therapist. Ensure timely and accurate documentation.
- Assist clients in improving their range of motion, strength, coordination, and functional mobility, while addressing safety concerns related to daily living activities under the supervision of the licensed therapist.
- Implement infection control measures and standard precautions during patient care activities to minimize contamination risks. Accept clinical assignments that align with educational background and competency.
- Utilize effective communication skills to educate patients and caregivers, promoting adherence to financial and regulatory guidelines.
- Demonstrate commitment to professional development and competency in practice.
- Engage in the Agency's Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
- Fulfill mandatory continuing education requirements and participate in agency-sponsored training sessions.
