The Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in employing the nursing process to deliver evidence-based care while consistently monitoring and assessing practices to ensure the safe and effective treatment of patients, prioritizing the best interests of the populations served.
The Hem-Onc Special Care Unit (HSCU) consists of 9 beds within the Hematology-Oncology Inpatient Unit (1W), dedicated to the care of patients undergoing Stem Cell Transplant and CAR T-cell therapy. Nurses in this specialized unit will also have opportunities to assist in the 1W unit as needed.

Nurses interested in advancing their skills in this area may have the chance to receive training for Stem Cell Transplant and REMs certification. These specialized staff members will also support the L1WD Hem/Onc Inpatient unit when required. L1WD is affiliated with the Dartmouth Cancer Center at D-H, recognized as one of only 53 Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the USA.
