Job Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician I plays a vital role in providing quality care to patients by assisting the Pharmacist and other hospital staff in medication distribution. This position requires a high level of accuracy, concentration, and discipline.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process medication orders and requests with precision, gathering and dispensing medications as needed.
- Deliver medications to assigned units, ensuring timely and efficient service.
- Maintain accurate daily pharmacy logs, tracking inventory and medication usage.
- Assist in inventory control, answer phones, and perform other assigned duties by the Pharmacist and/or Pharmacy Supervisor.
- Support Pharmacy Compliance initiatives and maintain a high level of professionalism.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Licensures/Certifications/Registrations:
- Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the State of Texas Board of Pharmacy.
Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated combination of training and experience requiring concentration, accuracy, and discipline.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships:
Daily interaction with other staff within the Pharmacy department. Frequent contact with department nurses and leaders required for quality patient care.
Physical Capabilities:
Work is of light demand; involves lots of walking on the health center campus. Must possess near visual acuity to read documents and computer records. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
Environmental/Working Conditions:
This position is subject to inside environmental changes that may include constant change in temperatures. Hours of duty may be irregular to accommodate departmental requirements.
