Job Title: Applied and Group Percussion Instructor

Colburn School is seeking a highly qualified and experienced percussion instructor to join our faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching group and individual percussion classes to students of various skill levels.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach percussion students at elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels.
  • Recruit new students and foster relationships with the community.
  • Work with Community School staff to understand the financial aid and scholarship process.
  • Encourage student participation in Colburn ensembles.
  • Select appropriate repertoire for students.
  • Hold parent meetings and conferences to address student issues.
  • Provide counseling related to students' musical development.
  • Perform administrative tasks associated with students' attendance and performance records.
  • Work closely with Community School staff to support students' musical growth.
  • Assist students with recording sessions for auditions and competitions.
  • Participate in various activities such as faculty recitals, departmental auditions, and workshops.
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in music.
  • Prior experience teaching percussion students in group and individual settings.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized.
Compensation:

The base pay rate for this position is $55-70 per hour for each one-hour master class or group class, or each 45-60 minute coaching session, which includes any related preparation or administrative duties.
