Job Summary:The Weekend Pharmacist will be responsible for preparing and dispensing drug orders, monitoring patient drug therapies, and providing clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners. You will also be responsible for supervising and directing supportive personnel, ensuring that pharmacy services are provided in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare and dispense drug orders per physician request according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Monitor patient drug therapies for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose.
- Provide clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners, suggesting appropriate cost-effective therapeutic alternatives as needed.
- Supervise and direct supportive personnel, ensuring that pharmacy services are provided in a timely manner.
- Participate in quality improvement and medication use review activities, collecting data, conducting monitors, and maintaining logs, records, and other documentation as assigned.
- Current Louisiana license as a pharmacist.
- BS Pharmacy degree.
- Experience in a hospital setting preferred.
The Weekend Pharmacist will work in a fast-paced environment, requiring strong communication and organizational skills. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision is essential.
