Position: Structural Steel Quality Control Inspector

Compensation: $23.00 to $25.00/hr, with an additional $1.50/hr for night shifts.

Work Schedule: Night Shift – Monday to Thursday, 5:00 PM to 4:00 AM. Early arrivals are compensated.

Role Objective: The Structural Steel Quality Control Inspector is responsible for conducting dimensional assessments on all structural components and assemblies to ensure compliance with provided detail drawings. This includes performing weld inspections in accordance with AWS D1.1 standards, while maintaining a high level of proficiency and independence to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safety: Strive for zero accidents by utilizing all assigned protective equipment and adhering to safety protocols. Proactively suggest safety improvements and report any incidents immediately.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough inspections of fabricated components, welds, surface preparations, and coatings to guarantee that the end product meets the highest quality standards.
  • Timeliness: Perform inspections efficiently to ensure that quality control processes do not hinder scheduled delivery timelines.
  • Cost Efficiency: Optimize inspection processes to minimize costs and enhance operational efficiency.
Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Experience: Minimum of two years in related fields, including fabrication, welding, and dimensional inspection.

Preferred Skills:
  • Three or more years of relevant experience, particularly in layout and welding.
  • Comprehensive understanding of basic weld symbols and their applications.
  • Ability to interpret structural fabrication drawings accurately.
  • Proficiency in mathematical concepts relevant to geometry and trigonometry.
  • Strong decision-making skills to plan and execute tasks effectively.
  • Alignment with company values and commitment to quality.
  • Knowledge of nonconformance documentation.

  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification.
