Key Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the nursing supervisor/RN and in accordance with established protocols, evaluate the health status of inmates presenting for medical attention.
Assist with the provider line and ensure examination rooms and equipment are ready for use.
Administer medications, maintain accurate documentation, and manage medication supplies in compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
Perform emergency interventions as necessary and consult with physicians for treatment directives.
Ensure the confidentiality and security of all medical records, adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Monitor inmates for potential severe health issues and comply with pharmacy regulations, particularly concerning controlled substances.
Be available for on-call duties as required.
Provide health education and counseling to individuals or groups as needed.
Maintain comprehensive records, reports, and logs, and conduct chart reviews for inmates with significant health concerns.
Prepare safety and incident reports as mandated by policies, and respond appropriately to emergencies and unusual occurrences.
Execute rescue operations during emergencies, including administering basic medical aid and ensuring the safety of individuals in hazardous situations.
Accurately document all medical care provided.
This role requires prolonged periods of standing, walking, and climbing stairs.
Regular attendance is essential, and the ability to work overtime when necessary is expected.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old.
A high school diploma or GED is required; a nursing degree is preferred.
A valid nursing license for Texas or a compact state is essential.
Current CPR certification is mandatory.
A valid Texas driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is required unless waived by management.
