Job Summary

Tesla's Vehicle Engineering department is a hub of innovation, where talented engineers work together to design and develop cutting-edge vehicle systems. As a Backend Software Engineer on the Vehicle Engineering team, you will play a critical role in developing software applications that automate and streamline the design process.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop robust data pipelines to handle diverse engineering-related data, including operational metadata, drawings, telemetry, and 3D geometries.
  • Develop and optimize applications using Go and Python, ensuring high-performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Manage deployment infrastructure using custom GitHub Actions, Docker, ArgoCD, and on-prem Kubernetes clusters.
  • Influence architectural decisions, focusing on security, scalability, and high-performance using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, and OpsGenie.
  • Collaborate with frontend and machine learning engineers to integrate backend systems seamlessly.
  • Work closely with other Vehicle Engineering teams to design and implement backend components for future features and processes.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of at least one programming language related to data engineering, such as Python or Golang.
  • Proven experience in database management, with specific proficiency in PostgreSQL and the ability to write complex SQL statements.
  • Experience with data processing frameworks like Spark, Dask, or Ray is preferred.
  • Experience with GitHub Actions, Docker, ArgoCD, and Kubernetes is preferred.
  • Experience with scientific computing libraries like numpy, pandas, or scikit-learn is preferred.
  • Experience with machine learning libraries like PyTorch or JAX is preferred.
  • Knowledge of machine learning, computer vision, or neural networks is preferred.

Expected Compensation:

$120,000 - $210,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits.
