Job Summary

The Control Systems Engineer will support the development, integration, and verification of electronic control systems for aircraft. This position requires a strong understanding of control systems, including high-integrity and fail-operational system architectures and data bus protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and Development: Design, develop, and certify control systems, including Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS), Auto-Throttle (AT), and Emergency Auto-Land (EAL).
  2. System Integration and Testing: Define and execute control systems integration, verification, and validation (V&V) testing requirements, test procedures, and support laboratory, ground test, and flight test activities.
  3. Requirements Management: Define and review control systems requirements, ICDs, electrical drawings, test plans, system safety documentation, and system performance analysis.
  4. Problem Resolution: Resolve problems from development, certification, production, and field support activities.
  5. System Safety: Review System Safety documents, including Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), System Safety Assessment (SSA), and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
  6. Collaboration: Interface with Avionics Supplier System Engineers, DERs, and Flight Test to support integration activities.
  7. Customer Support: Assist Customer Support and Production as needed.
Requirements
  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or other related field.
  2. Experience: At least 7 years of direct experience as a control systems engineer in actual aircraft development programs (Part 23 or 25) is beneficial, preferably in the area of flight critical systems.
Skills and Qualifications
  1. Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills.
  2. Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal teamwork skills.
  3. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills.
  4. Accountability: Accountability to resolve issues and meet agreed milestones with minimal supervision.
  5. System Troubleshooting: System troubleshooting and debugging skills, both in the lab and in the actual aircraft.
  6. Control Systems Knowledge: Working knowledge of control systems, including high-integrity and fail-operational system architectures and data bus protocols.
  7. Requirements Development: Fluency in systems requirements development and management.
  8. Mathematical Skills: Working knowledge of modern control design methods (such as LQR) and aircraft stability and control analysis.
  9. Software Skills: Fluency in Mathworks MATLAB/Simulink and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites.
  10. Regulatory Knowledge: Working knowledge of FAA & EASA certification requirements, including airworthiness and operational requirements.
  11. Engineering Tools: Experience with Engineering process tools for Requirement Management, Defect Tracking, Configuration Control, Version Control, and PLM tool.
