Job Summary:
The Emergency Department Coordinator facilitates and coordinates patient services, ensuring quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner.
Under the direction of the charge nurse, this role ensures that patient services are specific to the age of the patient population served.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Graduate
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology preferred
- Minimum 2 years prior computer-data entry skills preferred
- Prior medical setting experience in physician office, hospital, etc. preferred
Physical & Other Factors:
- Long periods of sitting
- Prolonged exposure to computer screen
- Some physical exertion assisting with patient transport
Work & Environmental Conditions:
- Exposed to patient elements and handling of emergencies
- Exposed to the stress of emergency department activity and critical patient incidents
Job Relationships (Responsible to/for, works with):
Responsible to the Director of Emergency Services, reports to the Charge Nurse.
Works effectively with members of the health care team, administrative personnel, and maintains cooperative working relationships intra and inter-departmentally.
Working Conditions:
- Some manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity
- Little or no potential for occupational risk
- Medium to Heavy effort. May exert up to 35 lbs. force
- Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
