Job Summary

This position offers a $15,000 sign-on bonus and is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package. As a Clinical Audiologist, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with hearing, balance, and related disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients' audiologic function, interpret findings, and review test results with patients or responsible adults.
  • Document patients' case history, test results, and recommendations for follow-up in the medical record and report results and recommendations to referring physicians and/or primary care physicians.
  • Counsel patients about treatment options for hearing loss and refer patients to ear, nose, and throat departments for consultation when appropriate.
  • Educate patients about hearing conservation and evaluate patients' vestibular function when referred for dizziness, vertigo, or imbalance.
  • Perform canalith repositioning maneuvers for patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and counsel patients about vestibular rehabilitation exercises when appropriate.
  • Perform and interpret electro physiologic and special tests of the peripheral and central auditory system.
  • Evaluate the hearing status of infants and young children with an appropriate comprehensive battery of tests.
  • Counsel patients regarding hearing aid device options and evaluate patients' hearing aids when appropriate.
  • Enter referrals for hearing aids for members with a hearing aid benefit.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Program and fit implantable devices such as cochlear implants, bone-anchored hearing aids (BAHAS), and similar devices.
  • Fitting, programming, and troubleshooting hearing aids and assistive listening devices, including electroacoustic analysis and real-ear measures.
  • Perform advanced vestibular assessment, such as rotary chair, vestibular evoked myogenic potential (VEMP), posturography, or video head impulse testing (vHIT).
Requirements
  • Au.D. degree or equivalent.
  • Current employees: Masters degree and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in audiology required.
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.
  • PPECOS enrollment within three months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in vestibular testing (videonystagmography (VNG) or electronystagmography (ENG)).
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in behavioral pediatric assessment (infants and toddlers).
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in Auditory Evoked Potential testing (all ages).
Work Environment

This position is based in Kensington, MD, and requires travel to other locations up to 25% of the time.
