Dental Assistant - Dental Receptionist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dental Assistant - Dental Receptionist to join our team at Quadrant. As a Dental Assistant - Dental Receptionist, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support in a fast-paced dental office environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcome patients and visitors by greeting them in person or on the telephone, answering or referring inquiries.
  • Optimize patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.
  • Keep patient appointments on schedule by notifying the provider of patient's arrival, reviewing service delivery compared to schedule, and reminding the provider of service delays.
  • Comfort patients by anticipating their anxieties, answering their questions, and maintaining the reception area.
  • Ensure availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.
  • Maintain patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
  • Obtain revenue by recording and updating financial information, recording and collecting patient charges, controlling credit extended to patients, filing, collecting, and expediting third-party claims.
  • Maintain business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies, scheduling equipment service and repairs.
  • Help patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
  • Protect patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
  • Maintain operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Provide assistance to the oral surgeon and other providers within the division for a variety of treatment procedures.
  • Assist in the outpatient clinic and operating room settings.
  • Obtain patient's medical history and take vital signs such as blood pressure and pulse.
  • Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after treatment.
  • Provide patient education regarding treatments and post-op care.
  • Develop and process dental radiographs (x-rays), under supervision of licensed provider.
  • Obtain digital intra-oral impressions and when necessary alginate impressions under supervision of licensed provider.
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment.
  • Can be assigned duties specific to other dental specialties.
  • Perform office management tasks and clerical duties as required (e.g., scheduling appointments, answering telephone calls, billing, and ordering supplies).
