Job Summary: As a Residential Care Specialist, you will work as a member of a direct care team serving adults with serious mental illness. Your primary responsibilities will include supporting the development of life skills and therapeutic interventions, performing housekeeping, preparing meals, administering medication, and keeping accurate clinical documentation.

Responsibilities
  • Support the development of life skills and therapeutic interventions for adults with serious mental illness
  • Perform housekeeping duties, including cleaning and maintaining a safe and healthy environment
  • Prepare meals and snacks for residents, ensuring dietary needs are met
  • Administer medication as prescribed by medical staff
  • Keep accurate clinical documentation, including progress notes and treatment plans
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to residents, promoting independence and self-esteem
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge
Requirements
  • Caregiving and/or mental health experience (personal or professional) is preferred
  • A dedication to the well-being of each client and helping them meet their Activities of Daily Living (ADL)
  • Persons with three years' experience or a bachelor's degree in a related field may be eligible for the Vocational Training Program
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with adults with serious mental illness
  • Knowledge of mental health principles and practices
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
