Role of the Magnetic Resonance Technologist:
The MRI Technologist is responsible for conducting a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures using advanced magnetic resonance technology. This role is essential in assisting physicians with the accurate diagnosis of medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and explain MRI procedures to patients to ensure their understanding and comfort.
  • Maintain expertise in relevant anatomy, physiology, and pathology to optimize imaging procedures and uphold patient safety.
  • Conduct imaging examinations based on patient assessments, service requests, and established protocols, with oversight from supervisory staff.
  • Perform specialized imaging procedures pertinent to the designated area of expertise.
  • Implement MRI safety protocols to protect patients, families, colleagues, and visitors in MRI zones.
  • Stay updated on current practices and procedures in specialty areas to effectively fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Assess patient needs related to comfort, hygiene, and mobility, providing necessary support.
  • Prepare and administer contrast agents in accordance with procedural guidelines.
  • Educate patients about MRI processes and contrast media, addressing any questions they may have.
  • Foster a collaborative approach to imaging services by engaging with technical, support, nursing, and medical staff.
  • Process imaging exams and ensure availability on the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
  • Participate in the training and supervision of new staff and students in conjunction with management.
  • Exhibit professional imaging techniques and patient care practices in line with the ARRT Code of Ethics and SIH policies.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions to the appropriate departments promptly.
  • Complete all required training and competency assessments in a timely manner.
  • Conduct quality assurance activities as per the standards set by the American College of Radiology.
  • Utilize basic computer skills for effective documentation.
  • Be available for on-call duties as scheduled.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate degree in Radiology.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Current BLS certification.
  • ARRT RT(R)(MR) certification required within one year of employment.

Experience and Skills:

  • Preferred: At least one year of technical experience in MRI.
