Salary Ranges for Graduate Engineers:

Graduate Engineer I : $62,462 - $78,077

Graduate Engineer II : $66,834 - $83,544

Under the guidance of the Engineering Operations Manager, the Graduate Engineer I / II engages in engineering tasks associated with the assessment, investigation, development, review, operation, maintenance, and design of current and proposed water and wastewater systems.
Key Responsibilities

  1. Examine plans and specifications submitted by engineers for public and private projects to ensure compliance with municipal development codes and ordinances, or conduct investigative and analytical evaluations on the existing wastewater collection system to identify and mitigate sources of rainfall-dependent inflow and infiltration (as assigned).
  2. Collaborate with the Planning and Development Services Department on new developments, growth initiatives, Master Plans, subdivisions, site plans, etc. Participate in Pre-Application Conferences for development projects, identifying opportunities for oversized participation and contributing to the creation of development agreements.
  3. Conduct engineering research, prepare detailed engineering reports, attend meetings, and deliver presentations as necessary, analyze modeling computations for accuracy, and prepare and submit time and material estimates.
  4. Consult with and advise construction project inspectors, conducting inspections during construction phases. Engage in decision-making regarding necessary field modifications.
  5. Participate in special projects and reporting tasks.
  6. Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required:
Graduate Engineer I
Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering. Valid Texas Driver's License. Texas Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is preferred.

Graduate Engineer II
Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering and two (2) to four (4) years of civil engineering experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Texas Driver License. Texas Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, or the ability to obtain by reciprocity within six (6) months of hire.

Preferred:
Experience in municipal government. Familiarity with industry-standard software (EPANET, EPASWMM, Innovyze InfoWater, Innovyze InfoSewer, AutoCAD, etc.). Management or supervisory experience. Public speaking experience.
