Key Responsibilities

As a GIS Software Developer, you will engage with business stakeholders to architect solutions and guide analysts and developers through iterative development processes. Your role will involve:

  • Leading the development of code, testing, debugging, and deploying features while adhering to best practices.
  • Exhibiting critical thinking and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Researching and proposing innovative solutions to enhance project outcomes.
  • Effectively communicating ideas and concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Essential Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with GIS software such as Esri ArcGIS (Desktop, Pro, Server, SDE, AGOL), Google Maps, and open-source GIS tools.
  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise software development using Python (versions 2.x and 3.x).
  • Experience with multithreading, asynchronous programming, and server pool environments.
  • Proficiency in Python frameworks like Flask, Django, or Tornado.
  • At least 2 years of experience in JAVA development.
  • Front-end development skills using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience in developing web services with RESTful APIs, XML, SOAP, or JSON.
  • Database and SQL knowledge (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.).
  • Experience in cross-platform development, including Windows and Linux.
  • Familiarity with Linux environments and basic shell scripting, along with job scheduling and workload automation.
  • Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Lean).
  • A high degree of creativity and independence in problem-solving.
Preferred Qualifications

Additional skills that would be advantageous include:

  • Experience in cloud development.
  • Knowledge of big data solutions.
  • Familiarity with functional programming.
  • Understanding of Test Driven Development (TDD).
  • Experience with routing technologies.
  • Proficiency in Java 1.7+.
  • Experience with Tomcat and WebSphere Application Servers.
  • Familiarity with Spring MVC (versions 3 or 4) and Hibernate ORM.
  • Experience with various JavaScript frameworks (jQuery, Bootstrap, Angular JS, ExtJS, Dojo, etc.).
  • Knowledge of PL/SQL.
Educational Background

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required, along with a minimum of five years of relevant experience.
