Job Description

A postdoctoral position is available to investigate the role of spared brain regions on functional motor recovery after acquired brain injury (stroke, traumatic brain injury) utilizing animal models.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to study the mechanisms of neuroplasticity and rehabilitation utilizing microelectrode array recording and stimulation techniques. The successful candidate will have the chance to collaborate with other research laboratories at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

About the Position
  • Conduct research on brain connectivity patterns using chronic neuronal recording techniques in behaving animals.
  • Assist in behavioral training of animals.
  • Prepare written and oral reports on research progress and participate in the preparation of manuscripts for publication.
Requirements
  • PhD in Neuroscience, Computer Science, Bioengineering, Physiology or related fields.
  • Experience with research involving animals, animal behavior training and testing, single unit neurophysiology data acquisition and analysis.
  • Highly motivated to learn, assertive, detail oriented, organized, able to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently.
