Job Summary

Southland Industries is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead our HVAC design team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of project design, from conceptualization to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to a team of design engineers in the development of HVAC system designs and documents.
  • Manage preconstruction activities, including design process for design-build and design-assist projects.
  • Prepare preliminary design layouts for estimating purposes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external project teams during the preconstruction phase of projects.
  • Perform calculations, drawings, and specifications related to heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning systems.
  • Ensure code compliance and resolve design issues during the construction phase.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in related field.
  • P.E. license preferred.
  • Excellent working knowledge of HVAC design, including types of equipment and system operations.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to read mechanical and plumbing drawings well.
  • Competent in basic computer skills, including CADD, Trane Software, and Microsoft Office products.
