Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Specialist to join our team at the McLaughlin East Harlem Residence. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide clinical and therapeutic counseling services to residents, utilizing evidence-based models and trauma-informed care practices.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individual, group, and family counseling services to residents, using agreed-upon models and approaches.
- Facilitate regular psychoeducational groups on a range of topics, including trauma, mental health, and life skills.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized service plans, ensuring a comprehensive and trauma-informed approach to care.
- Support residents in achieving self-sufficiency, arranging for wrap-around services as needed, and promoting a culture of safety and respect.
- Utilize the Sanctuary Model framework to create a non-violent and trauma-sensitive environment, promoting a culture of safety and respect.
- Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) or related field, with NY LMSW or LMHC licensure.
- Experience working with youth and families, including crisis management and trauma-informed care.
- Strong understanding of the needs of young adults experiencing homelessness and a sensitivity to ethnic and cultural differences.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff at all levels.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and maintain a high level of professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
