Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician I Intern to join our team at the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System. As a Pharmacy Technician I Intern, you will play a critical role in supporting our pharmacy services and contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pharmacy Technical Functions: Perform pharmacy technical functions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, including preparation of medication orders, distribution of medication, and completion of training and homework projects.
  • Medication Preparation: Prepare medication orders for unit dose and intravenous admixture, select the correct medication or medical supply from stock based on a physician order, and prepare intravenous admixtures and other sterile products using aseptic techniques.
  • Medication Distribution: Transport medications and admixtures to the assigned pharmacy or nursing unit and place in the correct storage area, fill and maintain Automated Medication Dispensing Cabinet System (AMC) as necessary, and collect, fill, and deliver approved patient-specific medications to assigned patient care areas.
  • Environmental Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy environment, including routine cleaning of all areas of pharmacy, shelving books, clearing clutter from counters, and keeping the pharmacy neat and orderly.
  • Communication: Answer telephone promptly and courteously in accordance with UI CARE standards, and perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Requirements
  • Current Registration: Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the State of Illinois.
  • Education and Training: Completion of all training and homework projects, and maintenance of a clean and organized pharmacy environment.

Please note that this is a full-time, 40 hours per week, rotating schedule position, and the hourly rate for this position is $23.12 per hour.
