Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Intervention: Use a range of assessment tools to identify learning disabilities, developmental delays, and other psychological issues. Develop and implement intervention plans to address academic, behavioral, and emotional challenges.
  • Collaboration and Consultation: Work closely with teachers, parents, and administrators to develop strategies that improve students' academic performance and emotional wellbeing. Provide input on appropriate accommodations, modifications, and goals for students receiving special education services.
  • Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in school psychology. Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues to enhance the overall quality of educational services.
Requirements
  • Education: Ed.S. in School Psychology is required. Accreditation by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) or an equivalent body is also necessary.
  • Certification and Licensure: Obtain state certification or licensure to practice as a School Psychologist. The Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) credential from NASP is highly valued.
  • Transportation: Must have reliable self-transportation to travel to and from school sites.
