Your Profile

You are an enthusiastic, inventive, and detail-oriented technical expert with a strong desire to learn and develop intricate materials processing systems. In your role at BIL Sila, you will design, specify, and implement industrial process controls and instrumentation that are safe, dependable, scalable, deterministic, and exceptionally well-documented. Your communication skills will enable you to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create robust, modular, and well-documented process controls and instrumentation for large-scale synthesis equipment.
  • Develop control system strategies to execute necessary processes and integrate designs into Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Engage with various external vendors for process control designs and electrical/instrumentation subsystems.
  • Participate in safety assessments to ensure the secure design of processes and take ownership of implementing control recommendations.
  • Assist in the commissioning of hardware and software.
  • Collect feedback from end-users and translate it into actionable improvements. Iterate as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Expertise in control system design principles, including PID control, cascade control, and advanced control methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of instrumentation principles and devices (e.g., flow meters, level transmitters, temperature sensors) and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Profinet, Modbus).
  • Experience with the complete design lifecycle of process control systems, including Cause & Effect diagrams, Safety Requirements Specification (SRS), and Alarm Rationalization.
  • Hands-on experience with PLCs and proficiency in Structured Text, along with familiarity with other IEC programming languages.
  • Experience in designing and programming user-friendly human-machine interfaces (HMIs) for real-time monitoring and control.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance related to process control standards, such as NFPA, UL508A, and IEC.
  • A minimum of 5 years of industry experience is required. A B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering is preferred.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Utilize personal protective equipment, including lab coats, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed shoes.
  • Ability to move between buildings and remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Proficient in operating a computer and other office equipment in a fixed location.
Compensation for this position ranges from $126,000 to $160,000, with actual pay dependent on various factors such as education, experience, and skills. This role is part of BIL Sila's comprehensive Total Rewards package, which may include benefits, perks, equity, and bonuses.
