Horticultural Technician

Position: Greenhouse Technician

Location:
Acampo, CA

Contract Duration:
12 months

Compensation:
$18 to $22 per hour on W2

Work Schedule:
Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Overtime and weekend work may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and perform preventative upkeep on climate control systems, greenhouse structures, and associated equipment.
• Identify technical solutions and enhancements to improve daily operations within the greenhouse environment.
• Collaborate with internal teams to support the development of new plant varieties.
• Safely operate vehicles and forklifts as needed.
• Utilize power tools and equipment for maintenance and repairs in the greenhouse.
• Obtain a pesticide private applicator license and apply pesticides as necessary.
• Monitor growing conditions, including fertigation, lighting, pests, and other environmental factors.
• Oversee operational tasks in greenhouses and hardening houses to ensure the growth of healthy plants.
• Employ modern computer systems for irrigation, climate control, and general operations.
• Independently execute basic steps of standard operating procedures.
• Conduct troubleshooting, repairs, and installation of basic irrigation systems, including replacing PVC and metal pipes and fixing solenoids.

Technicians may also be required to perform tasks outside regular hours, such as irrigating crops, pest control, and monitoring security systems. These responsibilities are compensated accordingly and are integral to the role.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of one year of experience in greenhouse maintenance or as a maintenance/construction technician.
• Strong communication skills.
• Willingness to learn new greenhouse management systems.
• Availability to work weekends and after hours as needed.
• Valid driver's license.
• Adherence to QHSE standards.
