Purpose and Scope

The teaching faculty at Lone Star College are responsible for providing learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course objectives. This includes contributing to the educational environment of the college and the community.

Essential Job Functions
  • Teach courses in Polysomnography at various times and locations in response to institutional needs.
  • Develop and use a syllabus for each course or laboratory within college and departmental guidelines.
  • Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course objectives and inform them in a timely manner of their progress in the course.
  • Submit required college reports and forms.
  • Review, evaluate, and recommend student learning materials.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
  • Provide access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication, and other appropriate methods.

Physical Abilities

The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities, or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters and record boxes.

Work Schedule and Conditions

Equipment used includes a PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment, and any specialized equipment standard within the discipline/industry.

Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position.

Work is performed in a climate-controlled classroom and/or lab environment with exposure to safety hazards typical within the industry.

Required Qualifications

Associate degree or higher in Polysomnography, Respiratory Care, or another healthcare-related field, along with appropriate RPSGT credential and three years of experience in the field as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist.
