About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Software Engineer to join our team at Harman International Industries. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying scalable and maintainable backend systems for our revolutionary new music discovery platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop high-quality backend systems using modern technologies and tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product stakeholders, app developers, and engineers, to ensure project success.
  • Make critical early-stage development decisions to ensure long-term success.
  • Develop a scalable, maintainable, and operable backend infrastructure to support both the launch and future growth.
  • Work in a fast-paced, startup-like environment to launch a new business within Harman.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in backend services development.
  • Strong understanding of modern backend development tools.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Java and Python.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, and Azure.
  • Expertise with deployment technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Serverless architectures.
  • Familiarity with backend architecture components such as databases, caches, event streaming, queues, data warehouses, etc.
  • Proficient with automated pipelines for continuous build and integration systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or another related field.
  • Passion for music and an interest in working on products that bring joy to music lovers worldwide.
  • Virtual or remote work in any US time zone.
  • Experience working with machine learning workloads in production.
  • Experience with social products or recommendation systems.
