Research Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join our team in the Nephrology Division at the University of California, Irvine. The successful candidate will provide direct research and teaching support to Dr. Thu Le's laboratory, which focuses on renal mechanisms of hypertension and genetic determinants of susceptibility to kidney disease progression.
Key Responsibilities- Perform extensive laboratory work, including breeding and maintaining complex genetically-modified mouse lines, genotyping, and physiologic phenotyping of mice.
- Collect, present, and store data, assist in manuscript writing, and maintain laboratory facilities.
- Work cooperatively with a diverse laboratory staff and demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or a related field.
- Prior research experience with demonstrated independent responsibilities and activities.
- Clear and professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to operate a networked PC in a Windows environment with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Valid California Driver's License and daily access to a car for all work hours.
- Experience in clinical research and translational sciences.
- High proficiency in MS Office programs, including data entry skills.
- Ability to analyze problems from inception to completion and provide suggested solutions.
