Senior Accountant Job Description

Berks Homes is a leading homebuilder with a rich history of delivering high-quality homes to our customers. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team.

Job Summary

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the timely and accurate reporting of company financial information. This includes analyzing financial data, recording transactions, and preparing financial reports for senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze accounting records to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Conduct job cost analyses to identify areas for improvement
  • Develop and maintain financial systems to ensure efficiency and reliability
  • Prepare account reconciliations and record adjustments as needed
  • Record and reconcile intercompany transactions
  • Analyze monthly P&L activity for accuracy and completeness
  • Record multiple entries daily for settlements and loan draws
  • Organize and maintain supporting documentation for annual audits
  • Partner with regional operational staff to identify project accruals and explanations for significant budget variances
  • Assist in the monthly ERP system close
  • Prepare financial reports for senior leadership's review
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required
  • Minimum of three years of experience in the accounting industry; experience in the construction industry is a plus
  • Working knowledge of how to conduct job cost analyses, with expertise in financial reporting, expense categorization, coding, and reconciliation
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word required. Sage Intacct software is a plus.

Working Conditions
  • Flexible work structure that allows for remote work and work from the assigned Berks Homes location.
  • Work week is Monday through Friday, days, with occasional evening or weekend hours when required.
  • The candidate is expected to work consistent hours and to seldom be absent from work.
Physical Requirements
  • You will be primarily seated. At times, you may be required to bend, squat, kneel, stand, walk, reach, push, and pull. Occasionally, you may be required to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequently, you must be able to read and comprehend, write effectively and professionally, perform minor calculations, orally communicate with all levels within the organization, reason, and analyze data.
  • The main items of equipment/machinery used are the computer, telephone, adding machine, printer, and scanner.
