We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team at Foundations Educational Services, a member of the Point Quest Group. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in providing a tailored and inclusive education to students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom setting.
Key Responsibilities- Administer developmental testing programs and subject-specific assessments to assess student competency levels and develop individual learning plans.
- Provide medical care and assistance to students with medical needs, such as tube feeding, toileting, and diapering.
- Communicate with parents and guardians to inform them of student progress, expectations, and methods for improvement.
- Assess student progress towards objectives, expectations, and goals, and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
- Collaborate with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes and achieve established classroom objectives.
- Counsel students to improve performance, health status, problem-solving techniques, and personal issues.
- Demonstrate pedagogical approaches that engage learners and provide an effective program addressing individual student requirements.
- Differentiate classroom work to provide students with instructional materials addressing individualized learning programs.
- Direct assistant teachers, student teachers, paraprofessionals, volunteers, and student workers to provide an effective classroom program and address individual student needs.
- Instruct students to improve their success in academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills through a defined course of study.
- Maintain confidential and non-confidential manual and electronic files and records to provide up-to-date reference and/or historical reference in accordance with established administrative guidelines and legal requirements.
- Manage student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
- Monitor students in various educational environments to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
- Order supplies and equipment to ensure availability as needed.
- Participate in meetings to convey and/or gather information required to perform functions.
- Participate on PLC teams to review data and instructional practices.
- Prepare written materials to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
- Report health and safety issues to assigned administrators and appropriate agencies.
- Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns and/or direct to appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Respond to inquiries from various sources to resolve issues, provide information, and/or direction.
- Serve as case manager for special education students to manage IEPs in accordance with established administrative guidelines and legal requirements.
- Support classroom teachers to assist them in implementing established curriculum and/or individual student plans.
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
- An appropriate and current Arizona Teaching Certificate.
- Valid Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance card.
- Special Ed Certification/Endorsement K-12.
