Schedule Overview:

Five 8-hour shifts within a 2-week pay period, including rotation for weekends, holidays, and on-call duties.

Position Prerequisites:

  • Educational Background:

    Completion of an accredited program in Cardiovascular Technology beyond high school.
  • Experience:

    No prior experience is necessary. Completion and certification from an AMA-approved program in Cardiovascular Technology, including echocardiography, is required if not already certified. Previous experience in cardiovascular ultrasound procedures is advantageous.
  • Capability to perform echocardiographic services across various modalities.
  • Eligibility for hiring within 90 days prior to completing an Echocardiography program, provided internship hours are fulfilled.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to work autonomously and apply ultrasonic principles and Doppler echocardiographic techniques. Must thrive in a fast-paced environment with strict time constraints and collaborate effectively with ancillary departments. Commitment to professional development and quality improvement initiatives is essential.

Licensure and Certification:

Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers is required. Registration as a Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) and Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE) with Adult Echo is also necessary.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Must operate all necessary equipment to perform job functions. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds independently is required. For lifting patients over 35 pounds, appropriate patient handling equipment must be utilized. Exposure to blood/body fluids or isolation precautions may occur.

Role Purpose:

To conduct high-quality echocardiographic studies on adult patients with known or suspected cardiac conditions.

Study Modalities Include:

M-mode, 2-Dimensional Echocardiography, Color Doppler, Transesophageal Echocardiography, Exercise Stress Echocardiography, Pharmacological Stress Echocardiography, and Myocardial Contrast Echocardiography.

Key Responsibilities:

Accountable for obtaining and documenting precise, high-quality echocardiographic images to identify cardiac irregularities. Responsible for calculating accurate measurements of cardiac structures during various testing modalities. Proficient operation of ultrasound equipment is essential. Effective communication with Cardiologists regarding echocardiographic studies is required. Ability to identify acquired cardiac malformations is necessary.
