Key Responsibilities
The Patient Access Specialist is tasked with:

  • Collecting and verifying demographic, insurance, and medical information to guarantee accurate and complete patient registration.
  • Conducting insurance verification and meticulous data collection.
  • Assessing medical necessity for services based on established criteria.
  • Identifying patient financial obligations and collecting relevant payments.
  • Acting as a liaison for both internal and external stakeholders to facilitate access to hospital services.
  • Securing all necessary documentation to register the patient's visit.
  • Performing additional duties as required to support departmental operations.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A minimum of two years experience with hospital insurance plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, HMO's, and PPO's.
  • Strong typing and computer skills.
  • Familiarity with managed care plans and contractual agreements.
  • Two to four years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in outpatient services.
  • Knowledge of outpatient procedures and medical terminology.
  • Understanding of federal and third-party payer requirements.
