Primary Responsibilities

You will be part of a dynamic team working on a variety of exciting projects that will challenge your engineering skills and provide opportunities for career growth. As an integral part of the team, you will prepare engineering designs for substation projects, ranging from simple device replacements to large greenfield substation sites. You will work under the direction of Project Managers and Project Engineers to develop designs, calculations, and reports for electrical substations. Your role will also involve working with designers and CADD technicians to develop drawings in accordance with national design standards, safety codes, and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation of engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports, and designs for electrical substations
  • Development of design deliverables, including one-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA schemes, communications plans, substation physical layouts, material lists, conduit and cable sizing/routing, AC and DC systems calculations and sizing, and substation grounding
  • Performing site visits during the design, construction, and as-built phases of projects
Qualifications

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong background in electrical engineering. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a team environment, are essential. Self-motivation and the ability to take initiative are also critical for success in this role.

Preferred Qualifications
  • EIT or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Prior experience in substation design
  • Experience using Microstation and/or AutoCAD
  • Prior experience consulting or working for an electric utility
  • Experience using electrical design software such as SKM PowerTools, ETAP, or EasyPower
