Loan Servicing Specialist

Mechanics Bank is seeking a highly skilled Loan Servicing Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our loan servicing team, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of loan servicing tasks related to loan operations and processing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage loan files, including scanning and retrieval of documents from various applications/sources to assist with production and audit requests.
  • Resolve loan exceptions or corrections, research payment issues and discrepancies, and provide callback support to processors daily work and tickler management as assigned.
  • Provide prompt, courteous, and excellent customer service to internal and external clients, actively cooperating and interacting with other departments to advance the overall interests of the bank.
  • May be responsible for various tasks/responsibilities in any or all of the following areas of concentration:
  • File Management (Scanning/filing): Work with various loan documents, both in-house and attorney drawn, identifying and differentiating all types of loan documents to be scanned to the proper account.
  • Collateral Management (Paid Loans, perfection and release): Review and process loan payoffs, manage the release of collateral, and review paid-off packages to ensure all transactions and supporting documentation is completed accurately.
  • Insurance & Escrow Processing: Work with a third-party tracking vendor to complete insurance tracking as it relates to lender placement of coverage, flood insurance tracking, and setting up and maintaining escrow accounts for property taxes and insurance.
  • Transaction Processing: Review and post payments, prepare loan payoff demands, process payoff funds, complete loan service requests, loan file maintenance as requested, participation loan remittance, SWAP balancing and remittance, GL balancing, Exception Monitoring, aged item reporting with monthly certification, and verification of mortgage (VOM) tasks.
  • Callback and Boarding & Callback Processing: Fund wire transactions, internally through General Ledger and Deposit accounts, and from Title Company transactions, handling all levels of loan products, including consumer-Mortgage and Home Equity loans, Commercial and Commercial Real Estate.
  • Investor Processing: Work with various investor agencies, including FarmerMac, FannieMae, SBA, and USDA, handling daily reporting and settlement required by various agencies, interacting with each agency as needed, contributing to research and audit needs as requested.
Requirements:
  • High school or GED degree required.
  • 3 years of loan servicing experience required.
  • Regulatory knowledge of Flood and/or Escrow Processing preferred.
  • Experience in Fiserv Premier and Mortgage Electronic Registration System (MERS).
  • Loan servicing experience, good understanding of loan terminology.
  • Proficiency with both Word and Excel.
  • Experience with systems such as Fiserv Premier, Mortgage Electronic Registration System (MERS), as well as other third-party agencies, and vendors.
  • Experience with different investor agencies, such as FarmerMac, FannieMae, SBA, and USDA.
  • Possess excellent human relations, communications, and business writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with limited direct supervision.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret Bank policies and procedures.
  • Possess effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate teamwork in facilitating workflow, high level of cooperation with others, and responsiveness to the Bank's needs.
  • Exemplary motivation, enthusiasm, professionalism, and team skills.
  • Have a high level of accuracy and great attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to cope with pressure resulting from meeting required deadlines, reporting requirements, and training responsibilities.
