Job Title: Porter

At The Michaels Organization, we are seeking a skilled Porter to join our team. As a Porter, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of our properties.

Responsibilities:
  • Transfer trash and other items left outside of dumpsters into dumpsters and sweep the area.
  • Perform daily "trash-out" duties at vacated apartments, removing abandoned furniture, trash, and boxes.
  • Assist with "make-ready" duties as requested by the Community Manager or Maintenance Superintendent.
  • Perform work area clean-up and safety-related duties.
  • Detail property on a regular basis, focusing on specific areas such as management offices, laundry rooms, mail rooms, pathways, stairways, breezeways, dumpster areas, recreation areas, grounds adjacent to the road, walkways, exterior lighting fixtures, parking lots, and drives.
  • Assist in keeping grounds neat and free of litter, raking, sweeping, and shoveling as necessary.
  • Help clean and maintain storage and shop areas.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the Maintenance Superintendent and Community Manager.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic proficiency in reading and writing the English language to understand warning/caution labels and written instructions.
  • Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds at a time.
  • Must have exceptional customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools, such as hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, and paint rollers/brushes.
  • Attention to detail for cleaning duties.
Working Conditions:

Will be exposed to dirt, dust, and cleaning solvents and chemicals. Occasional overtime and/or weekend work may be required to maintain cleaning standards.

Salary Range:

$16.00 per hour.
