The Vehicle Service Inspection Specialist plays a crucial role in assessing necessary vehicle maintenance and executing the required repair, service, and upkeep tasks. While minimal experience is needed, there are significant opportunities for growth and career advancement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluates Repair Order Requests and conducts visual inspections of vehicles to identify service needs and required materials.
Performs diagnostics through comprehensive 32-point courtesy checks. Analyzes fluid samples, documents any physical damage, and considers customer complaints and requests. Utilizes Mitchell Repair, All-Data, and service manuals to gather technical information.

  • Operates customers' vehicles onto hoists or jacks in preparation for inspections, tire rotations, and lubrication maintenance.
  • Assesses tire tread depth, wear conditions, air pressure, and resets TPMS positions as necessary during the tire rotation process.
  • Evaluates brake conditions for wear and remaining pad depth.
  • Inspects all vehicle components, including belts, hoses, wipers, light bulbs, and chassis parts such as ball joints, struts/shocks, and bushings.
  • Checks battery for corrosion and verifies adequate cranking amperage using a current reporting battery tester.
  • Communicates findings to the sales associate team for estimation and presentation to customers regarding additional services.
  • Executes standard oil and lubrication services and disposes of used fluids in accordance with regulations.
Conducts tire rotations or minor maintenance services as needed.

Desired Qualifications:
  • At least 6 months of experience in tire and lubrication maintenance.
  • Familiarity with non-technical tire and automotive service processes and procedures.
Preferred Experience:
  • A SEMA certification for tire and wheel competency.
  • Knowledge of tire and lubrication requirements and specifications.
  • Proficiency with Mitchell Repair and All-Data.
  • Over 4 years of experience in a full-service tire and lubrication retail environment.
  • Understanding of tire and lubrication specifications, including the use of wheel balancers and Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems.
