A skilled Machinist is sought to manufacture and refurbish classic automobile components. We are looking for a dedicated individual for a full-time position, though part-time candidates will also be considered.
The Machinist will be tasked with restoring vintage parts to their original specifications from the 1960s and 1970s. This role requires a strong appreciation for traditional machining techniques, as we specialize in rebuilding classic car brakes, master cylinders, power steering, and suspension components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate manual milling machines, lathes, turret lathes, and drill presses, as we currently do not utilize CNC machinery.
- Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in operating mills and lathes.
- Demonstrate knowledge of cutting inserts and experience with hardened steel.
- Have a basic understanding of automotive mechanics and experience working with stainless steel materials.
- Understand the concept of 'press fit' and be proficient in indicating within a 4-jaw chuck.
- Utilize micrometers and calipers effectively.
- Experience with hydraulic presses is advantageous.
- Welding skills are a plus.
- Exhibit honesty, reliability, and a clean-cut appearance.
- Possess common sense and a strong work ethic.
- Maintain a non-smoking status, which is highly preferred.
- Be willing to work overtime, especially during preparation for car shows, which is mandatory.
- Be responsible for setting up your own machines and ensuring the quality of your work.
- Learn to identify the make, model, and year of vehicles for which parts are being manufactured.
- Have a strong memory to retain necessary information for the role.
We provide training in all aspects of the job, but applicants must have a solid foundation in machining principles. Teamwork and the ability to follow instructions precisely are essential.
