About the Role: Dining Room Assistant
Role Summary: The Dining Room Assistant plays a crucial role in establishing a warm and inviting setting for residents during their meal times. This position collaborates with a diverse team to ensure high-quality service that anticipates the needs of our residents, while maintaining a clean and inviting kitchen space that reflects the preferences of the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist residents in selecting their preferred meals in a manner that accommodates their individual needs.
- Collaborate closely with the neighborhood dietitian to ensure that dietary modifications and personal preferences are well understood.
- Prepare dining areas for meals, ensuring cleanliness and organization in the kitchen before concluding shifts.
- Present meals to residents in an appealing manner, tailored to individual requests and dietary requirements.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels of food and supplies, conducting regular stock checks and following proper ordering procedures.
- Support care staff during meal service by greeting residents, confirming dietary restrictions, and ensuring all food items are available for service.
- Perform thorough cleaning and restocking duties after meal service is completed.
- Ensure cleanliness of tables, surfaces, and kitchen appliances.
- Regularly clean beverage stations and ensure proper maintenance of equipment.
- Prepare for upcoming meals by ensuring steam wells are operational.
- Assist in promoting a vibrant community atmosphere between meals by offering snacks and beverages that align with residents' preferences and dietary needs.
- Complete other non-direct care tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Preferred experience of at least one year in hospitality or service roles within a restaurant or similar environment.
- A genuine desire and ability to engage with and support the needs of elders.
- A commitment to embodying the core values of St. John's.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods.
- Capable of walking, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, bending, and reaching to fulfill job responsibilities, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
