We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Interior Designer to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As an Interior Designer, you will play a critical role in shaping the physical environment of our institution, ensuring that our spaces are functional, aesthetically pleasing, and meet the needs of our students, faculty, and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Design and Planning: Develop interior finish, product, and furniture specifications for new capital project construction and space renovations. Prepare architectural and interior layouts, as well as space layouts and drafting.
- Project Management: Prepare furniture layouts, specifications, and bid documents; develop budget; prepare orders; manage schedule; and oversee installation of new furnishings. Coordinate furniture layouts and specifications with project construction documents.
- Selection and Procurement: Select interior finishes for new buildings or renovation projects. Finalize all selections and present to end users. Coordinate selections with project construction documents.
- Installation and Inspection: Oversee installation of furniture, fixtures, equipment, and interior finishes. Perform final inspections and follow up with end users as well as end user moves.
- Communication and Coordination: Serve as the main contact for clients, vendors, and contractors, providing regular project progress reports and coordinating information.
- Design and Drafting: Prepare architectural and interior layouts, as well as space layouts and drafting.
- Signage and Branding: Coordinate signage and building branding.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or related field.
- Experience: 18 months of experience in Interior Design.
- Equivalency Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the bachelor's degree for a total of 66 months of related experience.
- Skills: Effective oral and written communication skills, ability to read, interpret, and evaluate construction drawings and specifications, ability to coordinate and organize goals and efforts of multiple constituencies, highly organized and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines, proficient in Microsoft Office, and proficient in AutoCAD and Bluebeam.
- Certifications: National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) Registration with Oklahoma Board of Architects, Landscape Architects, and Interior Designers, and a valid driver's license.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to distinguish colors, ability to engage in repetitive motion, ability to lift heavy objects, ability to climb, including climbing ladders, ability to crouch, crawl, bend, or stoop, ability to draw, drag, haul, or tug or push objects, ability to reach, ability to grasp, ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time, ability to touch and feel size, shape, temperature, and texture.
