Job Summary

Pafford EMS is seeking a highly skilled EMT-Advanced to join our team. As an EMT-Advanced, you will provide advanced life support to patients in emergency situations, including medical evaluation, treatment, and stabilization of critically ill and injured individuals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide and direct fast, efficient advanced life support to patients utilizing all basic and advanced abilities and techniques.
  • Recognize and understand medical emergencies and make reasonable and acceptable differential diagnoses.
  • Perform critical physical examinations and understand and anticipate the pharmacological treatment of critically ill and injured patients.
  • Understand and anticipate potentially life-threatening presentations of non-cardiac emergencies and institute appropriate emergency therapy.
  • Deal with medical and emotional needs of patients with acute illnesses or injuries, with the goal of reducing mortality and morbidity.
  • Manage and direct first responders at the scene of a medical emergency, including EMRs, police departments, and EMTs.
  • Responsible for quality patient care as established by the Company.
  • File standardized reports of patient information and care for the use of receiving hospitals and administration.
  • Maintain effective communication with physicians on duty at hospitals to relate patient condition and obtain orders for treatment.
  • Transport patients to institutions of medical care and operate emergency vehicles in a safe manner under all conditions.
  • Clean and maintain equipment and properly complete patient statistics and medical information forms for administrative use.
  • Perform technical rescues in removing victims from varied terrain and circumstances.
Requirements
  • AEMT or EMT-Intermediate licensure.
  • CPR for the Health Care Provider.
  • Good knowledge of the street systems, addresses, and physical layout of the area, and of the rescue equipment and emergency medical equipment used in advanced life support.
  • Good ability to perform technical medical skills with a high degree of accuracy, understand and effectively deal with emotional and medical needs of patients, maintain a professional and objective approach to patient care, learn new concepts in rescue and medical skills and techniques, and perform a variety of limited mechanical work involved in the use, testing, and maintenance of rescue and medical equipment.
  • Ability to direct the work of and teach other personnel, understand and follow oral and written instructions and orders, maintain a professional attitude when representing the Company, establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, assisting agencies, hospital personnel, and the general public, drive and operate emergency ambulance units, and author reports with narrative and numeric information.
Additional Requirements

The work requires the incumbent to operate emergency medical vehicles, move medical equipment, and extract injured persons from a wide variety of situations. The incumbent must be able to carry or help carry someone from the site of the injury to the mode of transportation and attend the injured party to the hospital. The incumbent must also be able to perform a physical assessment of the injured party, which requires the ability to see, hear, and communicate with the injured party.
