Position Overview:

We are in search of a Senior Systems Engineer with expertise in configuring, managing, and resolving issues in cross-domain systems. This role is pivotal in supporting critical missions. The ideal candidate will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, gaining hands-on experience in the design, installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of enterprise systems. A strong team-oriented and customer-centric approach is essential due to the diverse locations and user base.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement security protocols as outlined in the security strategy, including timely assessments of network resources and software updates.
  • Manage the provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and upkeep of production Linux Servers within a virtualized environment.
  • Apply compliance controls to ensure system security.
  • Conduct daily monitoring of system performance, security, server health, and resource management for both Linux and Windows systems.
  • Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis for system configurations, backups, file systems, and user access issues.
  • Support RHEL platforms for applications and sustainment systems, along with security tools.
  • Collaborate with engineers and subject matter experts in executing duties.
  • Diagnose hardware, networking, and software challenges in a multi-node setup.
  • Install and configure operating systems and applications on various platforms.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours support.
  • Document software processes and updates.
  • Engage in peer reviews of software designs and concepts.
  • Work alongside a highly skilled team to conduct evaluation tests.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with 3+ years of experience. Additional experience may substitute for formal education.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Linux/UNIX system administration.
  • Possession of a DoD 8570 Level II Certification (e.g., CompTIA Security +, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, or SSCP) and ability to obtain environment certification within 6 months of employment.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies, VMware, and remote management tools.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with network architecture, data flows, firewalls, routers, and switches.
  • Knowledge of backup solutions such as Veeam.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service.
  • Project management capabilities.

Security Requirements:

  • Must possess a fully adjudicated Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
