Job Summary:
Sutter Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pathologist Assistant II to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for integrating knowledge, theory, and practice to execute procedures in assigned areas of the laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic procedures on biological specimens to aid healthcare providers in diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and prevention of disease.
- Maintain competence in all practices to perform procedures, including specimen receipt, preparation, and archival/retrieval, as well as validation testing and problem troubleshooting.
- Work cooperatively with physicians, clients, and staff to facilitate superior patient care and represent the laboratory positively by acting with courtesy, dignity, respect, and professionalism.
- Ensure compliance with department policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures aimed at ensuring patient privacy and safety.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in biological science or related field from a regionally accredited college/university.
- Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Pathologists' Assistant program within the last five years.
- ASCP-American Society for Clinical Pathologist certification within six months.
- Two years of recent relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge and technical competence in gross and post-mortem examinations, laboratory operations, and quality assurance in surgical pathology.
- Ability to organize and prioritize job duties and assigned tasks for completion within expected timeframes.
- Ability to accurately, precisely, and reliably perform job duties and assigned tasks, demonstrating sound judgment and problem-solving relevant to assigned duties.
- Culturally competent communication skills, with the ability to compassionately and effectively interact with individuals and groups of diverse ages, backgrounds, values, beliefs, and behaviors.
Working Conditions:
- Day/Evening shift.
- Full-time schedule.
- 8-hour shifts.
- Monday - Friday schedule.
Benefits:
- Competitive hourly rate: $71.57 to $89.45.
