About the Role

As a Surgical Technologist at UPMC, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the surgical team in preparing patients for surgery, maintaining a sterile environment, and providing support during procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for surgery by ensuring they are properly positioned and draped.
  • Assist the surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment, including setting up and cleaning equipment.
  • Pass instruments and supplies to the surgical team as needed.
  • Help to count and verify the accuracy of surgical supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in the preparation and care of specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Participate in the cleaning and restocking of the operating room.
Requirements
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Technologist Surgery Certified (TSC) within 6 months of program completion.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal.
  • Act 33 with renewal.
  • Act 34 with renewal.
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
