Job Description

AvaMed Workforce is seeking a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor to fill a Full-Time position at one of our correctional facilities in California. As a member of our team, you will provide mental health services to inmates, including crisis intervention, group psychotherapy, and individual counseling.

  • Must be licensed in California by the Board of Behavioral Science

Key Responsibilities:

Full-Time Position

Flexible Shifts and Hours

$50-$53/hr (W2/traveler)

Responsibilities include:

a. Providing on-call services during scheduled workdays for patient emergencies

b. Conducting initial mental health evaluations, including criminal, psychological, and substance abuse case history

c. Conducting clinically sound suicide risk evaluations and providing consultation and crisis intervention services as needed

d. Meeting with patients for crisis intervention, group psychotherapy, and individual counseling

e. Identifying relevant signs and symptoms of psychiatric disorders and developing treatment plans

f. Writing clinical reports and documenting all care provided to patients

g. Monitoring patient progress and participating in quality improvement activities

h. Collaborating with the interdisciplinary treatment team to develop and implement individualized patient treatment plans

i. Providing information to support staff for data entry and representing the department at formal and informal settings

j. Protecting and maintaining safety and security of property and supervising the conduct of persons committed to the institution

k. Participating in Unit Classification Committees and Institutional Classification Committees as required

Requirements:

Must be licensed in California by the Board of Behavioral Science

Must have a strong understanding of mental health principles and practices

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and provide excellent customer service

Must be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

Must be able to work independently and as part of a team

Must be able to travel to various correctional facilities as needed
