The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is a premier institution for academic and clinical excellence, offering a unique opportunity for an experienced Academic Clinical Pathologist to lead our Special Chemistry Section as Director.

As Director of the Special Chemistry Section, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our laboratory, ensuring the highest level of accuracy and efficiency in our testing processes. You will work closely with our team of pathologists, laboratory scientists, and other healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care and contribute to our department's research initiatives.

About the Role
  • Job Summary:
  • Direct the daily operations of the Special Chemistry Section, including managing staff, coordinating testing protocols, and maintaining quality control measures.
  • Collaborate with our multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless communication and integration of laboratory results into patient care.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in clinical pathology and implement best practices in our laboratory to maintain our commitment to excellence.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development within our team, fostering growth and advancement opportunities.
  • Participate in departmental committees and working groups to contribute to policy development, process improvements, and strategic planning.
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for junior faculty and residents, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
  • Foster strong relationships with hospital administrators, clinicians, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Expertise:
  • Provide expert interpretation of complex laboratory results and collaborate with clinicians to develop treatment plans.
  • Develop and implement new testing protocols and procedures to improve patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory results, test performance, and quality control measures.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
  • Laboratory Operations:
  • Manage laboratory personnel, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate testing schedules, inventory management, and equipment maintenance.
  • Implement process improvements and optimize laboratory workflows to enhance efficiency and productivity.
