Your Role:
The Respiratory Therapist I (entry-level professional) is responsible for executing essential respiratory care procedures for acute or critically ill patients across neonatal, pediatric, and adult populations. This role requires the ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include initiating and maintaining appropriate therapies, including life support techniques and equipment. The therapist will provide preventive, supportive, and corrective interventions related to the cardiopulmonary system in designated patient care areas, adhering to established hospital policies and applicable regulations. Competency in all relevant clinical skills must be demonstrated and maintained. Active participation in exceptional customer service and fostering respectful relationships with all individuals is expected. Compliance with AdventHealth's Corporate Compliance Plan and all relevant local, state, and federal regulations is mandatory.
Your Contributions to the Team:
· Actively proposes process enhancement initiatives, supporting the hospital and department's mission and objectives. Adheres to safety protocols and standard precautions consistently. Accurately documents and charges for procedures to meet quality standards.
· Responds promptly to all Code Blue emergencies, delivering CPR in accordance with American Heart Association guidelines and performing additional assigned duties as needed. Responsible for airway management, including the use of manual resuscitators and airway suctioning.
· Utilizes patient assessment skills and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to evaluate therapy effectiveness efficiently, making necessary recommendations in line with departmental protocols. Administers respiratory therapies and oxygen delivery methods, optimizing delivery methods as per protocol.
· Conducts arterial blood gas analyses and co-oximetry, reporting findings accurately. Performs quality control checks as required. Sets up and conducts oximetry, apnea, TC, and ETCO2 monitoring as ordered by the physician.
· Initiates, maintains, transports, and monitors mechanical ventilators, including basic conventional ventilation modes, in accordance with established policies. Reviews chest radiological reports as necessary.
Qualifications:
Essential Expertise and Experience:
· Graduation from an AMA-approved Respiratory Therapy program is required. An Associate's degree (AAS or AS) is necessary.
· Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential is mandatory.
· BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
· Up to two years of acute care experience is required for graduate RRTs.
· Current Florida State License as an RRT/Registered Respiratory Therapist is essential.
· Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the NBRC is required.
